FFwD - Cheesy Creme Brulee

This week's French Fridays with Dorie recipe is Cheesy Creme Brulee.  To me, it tasted like a very small crustless quiche.  This translates to - it tasted fine, but I can't really see the point.

I used gorgonzola in the  base of my brulee, as that was the only block cheese I had.  For topping, I used pre-grated  cheddar.

There's not much else to say about this, I'm afraid.  Have a lovely weekend, and check out the thoughts of the other Doristas on this dish at the LYL section of the website

I'm doing a cleanse for the next three weeks, so I'm out of commission on this one. But, I'm glad I skipped it because it doesn't sound like it wowed you.

It looks cheesy...and anything that looks cheesy has my attention right away. I am wondering how anything with two kinds of cheese in it can be just so ho-hum so may have to try this one to see what it is all about...I'm all about the research. I also find that you and I agree more times than not about the worthiness of a dish! 1821

I had a chunk of gorgonzola dolce that I almost used in this but opted for chedddar and Romano instead.
It will be interesting to see how the verdict plays out this week.
Have a great weekend!

I've never tried a savoury creme brulee but it sounds like you were nonplussed with it!

Interesting… I actually was afraid it would taste like a crustless quiche and was pleasantly surprised that it was more cheesy than eggy. Sorry you didn't enjoy but hey, you tried it!

I really liked the taste of this one, but I agree with you about not really seeing the point. I'm not sure when I would actually serve this again.

Sorry this did not work for you. We enjoyed it at my house, but we are cheese junkies. Hope you have a good weekend.

I thought this was creamier than a normal quiche, and maybe that's why I liked it so much. Sorry to hear it didn't do anything for you!

Sorry you did not care for this but at least you gave it a shot. We liked it and I will definitely repeat the recipe.
Have a great weekend.

Funny about this one…my husband liked it more than I did! I wanted the classic sweet version! Sorry it wasn’t a hit for you! Have a great weekend!

Sorry this wasn't a favorite for you, but at least it wasn't that hard to make... There's always next week :)

Perhaps that's why my partner didn't like it that much -he's a big fan of quiche, but this one left him cold.
