FFWD - Salad Nicoise

It's Friday again, and for French Fridays with Dorie this week, our dish is a French classic - Salad Nicoise. I only recently learned how to pronounce this, so it won't surprise you that I have never eaten this salad before now.

As you can see, it is quite a substantial salad and takes quite a bit of preparation.  My egg is not very visible because I undercooked it and most of the yolk leaked out - but it's there, I promise you.

I really enjoyed this for lunch last Saturday - it is the kind of thing I would make again, especially when this non-salad girl is looking for a salad to make in the warmer months.

To see what the other Doristas thought of this salad, visit the LYL section of the  FFWD website.

I was even able to pass this salad off as dinner in our house - I served some bread with it and called it a day :-)

If you think about it, all the ingredients separate could be a meal...

Looks good!

The one I tried had seared tuna and it was delicious!

The egg yolk blended with the vinaigrette must have been super nice. I love how vibrant everything looks against the blue plate.

The dramatic blue plate brings out all the colors of your salad!

Hubby and I had this for dinner and loved it. Yours
looks quite delicious. The colors are so pretty together.

I'm thinking the runny yolk in your salad would be quite tasty. Have you ever tried Salad Lyonnaise with bacon, garlicky croutons, and a poached egg? I don't think there's a recipe for that one in AMFT. Well, if you're not a salad girl, probably not.

Salad nicoise is a favorite salad in our house…mostly because it’s so filling and can be eaten for dinner. Yours looks great, Gaye! Have a nice weekend!

Love eating and making this salad...a whole meal on one salad plate and everyone loves all the ingredients (I sub chicken for tuna but just don't tell anyone as we don't like tuna). Your plate looks beautiful.
